ABOUT

BRE Clark

I am a caretaker. Since I was young enough to speak, I creatively conspired to help everyone around me. I believe in leaving everything a little better than I found it. I’m deeply interested in what people think, what they enjoy, what they despise, and what they dream about. This disposition towards others is my soul’s journey.

After navigating the years that followed a significant family loss, in February 2023 I followed a loud calling from the universe and pursued training as a death doula. I started offering services in January 2024 and since July 2023, I’ve served as a hospice volunteer. I currently spend my time with the wonderful folks at Alive Hospice, Nashville’s only nonprofit hospice.

When I’m not working with clients, I teach technology classes and plan enriching programming for those 60+ at the Senior Renaissance Center in Sylvan Park. My interest and positive view of aging was strongly influenced by my five years working for Senior Planet. I now have the immense privilege of moderating their twice monthly “Death Cafe” and “Solo Aging” Discussion Group.

I live in East Nashville with my husband of 11 years and our miniature dachshund. You can find me taking in life through all the senses—looking for hummingbirds in my backyard, savoring delicious food and dirty gin martinis, smelling gardenias, listening and dancing to live music, wearing second hand gems, and connecting with others over the beauty and tragedy of this brief life.

My approach

As a death (or end of life) doula, I offer non-medical, holistic support and comfort to those preparing for or experiencing end of life. I meet clients with both gentleness and strength.

Many who are caring for their dying loved ones feel overwhelmed. I offer services to help people navigate the complexities of death by offering respite, care, and education. In times of profound need, I can provide time and guidance to the dying individual and/or those caring for their loved ones, throughout the dying process. After a loved one has died, I support next steps, from funeral to burial, and wrapping up one’s affairs.

I believe that a relationship to death can transform a person. My background and skills enable me to support people to tap into that power by helping them think about and plan for their own death through the “Peace of Mind Project”.

My practice, Eclipse Into Harmony, empowers personal transformation and a deeper embrace of one’s life journey, through a profound connection to end. My goal is to help individuals navigate transformative moments and support them to achieve balance.

My background, training, & CERTIFICATION

After attaining a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Harding University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, I spent a decade working in the nonprofit world leading and coordinating programs and advocacy for older adults. As a social worker, I have a strong systems perspective and strengths-based approach.

Before answering the call to deathwork, my diverse experience in aging offered countless opportunities to build community and witness collective power. I’ve lobbied on Capitol Hill to protect federal senior housing and Social Security, transcribed the harrowing histories of Holocaust survivors, and taught thousands of older adults how to use Zoom during the early stages of COVID. Through it all, my work has been about adapting to difficult, unexpected circumstances with thoughtfulness and grace.

I am a Going with Grace certified death doula and have been deemed NEDA Proficient by the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance. As part of my commitment to providing safe and reliable care, I maintain professional liability insurance.
